Customized Land Rover Defenders reach over $270,000 and become collectible luxury items (Instagram @twisted_automotive)
In 2015, Charles Fawcett, founder of Twisted, made the bold decision to purchase 200 units of the Land Rover Defender just as the model was about to be discontinued.
These vehicles, based on the top-tier XS Spec version, were purchased directly from the Solihull factory and registered in 2016, making them rare and highly collectible items. Today, they remain practically new, with less than 48 km driven, and are being sold for prices as high as $274,800, well above the original price of around $43,700.
Twisted, a company specializing in customizations, transforms each Defender into a unique piece, adapting engines (gasoline or diesel), suspension, brakes, wheels, lighting, and interior finishes to meet each customer’s preferences.
The vehicles also receive soundproofing, modern infotainment systems, and luxury details such as leather seats, significantly elevating the standard of the classic model.
According to Fawcett, Twisted’s goal is to create customized Defenders that match the lifestyle of their owners. The limited edition, called “One of One,” reflects this exclusivity.
Currently, the diesel models are priced starting at $168,600 plus VAT, while the more powerful gasoline models are valued at $229,800 plus VAT, ensuring Twisted a huge return on its initial investment.
